Purchasing Manager

Role

The Purchasing Manager manages the procurement process for direct and indirect materials and services for the Company, ensuring material availability in line with production plans and company guidelines.

The role focuses on cost and cash optimization, meeting delivery deadlines and nurturing supplier relationships.

The candidate will report to the Company’s Purchasing Director.

Responsibilities

  • Rationalize current Supply Base and investigate and suggest new supply partners
  • Manage relationships with suppliers
  • Achieve Cost reduction targets and Inventory turns targets
  • Ensure suppliers’ prices, LTs and other conditions are correctly inserted and maintained in the ERP system
  • Oversee Purchase Orders and follow up with approval process
  • Manage open POs reports to suppliers to support materials expediting and inventory control
  • Ensure material availability with correct timing
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (eg. Technical dept.) on the Purchasing of specific items and engage with vendors to resolve complaints
  • Manage and mitigate supplier price increase request
  • Monitor inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels
  • Monitor and report Supplier SOTD
  • Engage with suppliers to solve Quality and delivery issues
  • Contribute to new product development, manage components Phase IN – Phase Out
  • Lead and develop the Buyers Team

  • Inventory Value and Inventory Turns

Lateral relationships

  • Local sites Planning and Operations: to support material flow and movement
  • Finance and Accounting: to ensure Pos and invoices matching, purchasing cost and inventory control
  • Category Managers and Purchasing Director: to support the category strategies and to escalate recurring supplier issues

Work Experience & Education Requirements

  • Degree in technical or economical field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement, ideally in a industrial machines job manufacturing context

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required.

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Fluent in English written and spoken. French and/or Spanish will be a plus
  • Ability to influence others & build productive, motivated, high-performance teams

  • Results oriented and organized with the ability to plan and deliver against deadlines

  • Willing to travel to ETS sites and suppliers
