Country of installation flag croatia

English

Overview
A food industry application in Croatia has implemented the first 100% transcritical CO₂ refrigeration system for a blast freezer (spiral freezer tunnel) in the bakery sector. The project introduces natural refrigerant technology into low-temperature industrial freezing processes. It demonstrates the applicability of CO₂ systems in demanding production environments.

The Challenge
Industrial freezing applications require very low evaporation temperatures and reliable system performance. At the same time, there is increasing demand for sustainable solutions using natural refrigerants instead of synthetic ones.

The Solution
The installation consists of a 100% transcritical CO₂ refrigeration system designed for a spiral freezer tunnel. The system operates at low temperatures suitable for industrial freezing, using CO₂ as a natural refrigerant. It is designed for energy-efficient operation and long-term performance.

Results & Impact
The project confirms the feasibility of using CO₂ technology in ultra-low temperature industrial applications. It enables the use of a natural refrigerant in food processing sectors such as bakery, meat, fish, and frozen food production.
